Fenly is an early beta run by its founder, Nhat. This page says, in plain words, what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to have it deleted. Questions: hello@fenly.ai.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. The page loads nothing from other websites (even the font is ours).
- Our hosting provider (Render) records each visit's address and time in its own logs, as every web host does. We don't use those logs to follow anyone.
The beta sign-up form
- We collect what you type: your email and, if you add them, your name, company, role and the systems you use.
- We use it to review your request and to email you about the beta. We don't sell it, use it for advertising or add you to a newsletter.
- It's kept in Fenly's database (Render, in the United States) until the beta ends or you ask us to remove it.
- To limit spam, we briefly keep the network address each sign-up came from, apart from your entry, and clear it after about two days.
The Fenly app (for invited testers)
- Your account: name, email, a scrambled version of your password, how many questions you asked, and any feedback you send. With your own files, feedback keeps only your rating and your own comment.
- Your files: every file you upload is treated as real. Columns that look sensitive (tax IDs, birth dates, bank and card numbers) are removed when it arrives. Files with patient or health details are refused and not kept. Your files and working data are deleted when the conversation ends: when you start a new one, sign out, or leave it idle for 6 hours. Downloads go to your own computer.
- Connected systems: if you connect QuickBooks, Stripe or Salesforce, Fenly only reads. Some of these providers grant broader permissions than reading, but Fenly's code never writes back. The access keys are stored encrypted and deleted when you disconnect or delete your account. What Fenly reads is handled like an uploaded file.
- Fenly's own made-up examples: conversations with these are kept for 30 days so the founder can see where Fenly helps and where it fails, then deleted. The founder can also read feedback. Nobody can read a conversation with your own files after it ends, because it isn't kept.
- Notes and playbook rules you save: only when you click to save them. They never contain amounts (with your own files, no names or contact details either), and you can delete them any time.
The AI behind the answers
- Fenly's own code calculates every amount. To write some answers, Fenly sends your question and the results it needs to Anthropic's Claude.
- With your files, names are masked first: customers, vendors, people and companies become labels like "Customer 17", and emails, phone numbers and street addresses are blanked. Amounts, dates and IDs stay so Fenly can show its work. Masking can miss a name inside free text, so leave out anything you don't want sent.
- To read an export layout it hasn't seen before, Fenly shows Claude the column headers and up to 20 sample rows, masked the same way.
- When Claude runs code for you, it works on the masked tables in Anthropic's code sandbox, which keeps files for up to 30 days. Anthropic keeps API data for a limited time under its own retention policy, and its commercial terms say API data isn't used to train its models.
Who else handles your data
- Render hosts the website, the app and its database (United States).
- Anthropic provides the AI, as described above.
- The systems you connect (QuickBooks, Stripe, Salesforce), only when you connect them.
- Our email provider, when you write to us.
Each handles it only to provide its service to us. We don't sell personal information.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS; passwords are scrambled and connection keys encrypted; testers can't see each other's data. Fenly hasn't had an independent security audit yet and has no SOC 2 report. Please don't use it for anything you couldn't afford to have exposed, and tell us at hello@fenly.ai if you find a security problem (with made-up data in any example).
Your choices
- Ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it: email hello@fenly.ai from the address you signed up with. Deleting an account removes its details, question counts, feedback, saved notes, connections and kept conversations.
- Fenly is for work use by adults, not for anyone under 18.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell testers in the app.
